My Minimalist Makeup Routine

My Makeup Routine

*I am in no-way, shape-or-form a makeup artist or anything of the likes, so my methods may be different to what you’re used to, but I am 100% welcoming any tips if I’m completely wrong on anything!*

Foundation, Concealer & Set

Firstly, I like to apply my foundation using my Real Techniques brush. I put a pea-sized amount of my Sleek Lifeproof foundation, in the shade LP05, straight onto the brush and start to blend it into one half of my face, and then the same application for the other half; making sure it is blended in as much as possible, going down the neck if need-be. I like to apply my concealer straight after, by applying one stroke of the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer, in the shade fair, straight down my nose, and then the Maybelline Fit Me concealer, in the shade 10, under the eyes and around the chin area (anywhere that needs a bit of love). Using my damp Beauty Blender, I like to dab this all in and sometimes if my foundation isn’t blended well around the jawbone then I take my beauty blender and dab it all over my jaw and neck to get that flawless finish. Personally, I like to let this all dry on my face before going in with anything else so I like to use a cotton bud and a dab of water to remove excess foundation off my eyebrows and lips for later on! After everything has dried, I like to give a little dusting of my Maybelline face powder under my eyes and on my chin using my Ecotools powder brush.

Bronze & Blush

Using my Kiko Milano bronze and blush palette I bought in Venice wayyy too long ago, I like to grab my *mums* Avon angled brush and using the bronzer, apply just beneath my cheek bones in a sweeping motion, building it up until there’s a natural warm contour to the face. Once applied to both cheeks, I use the excess powder on the brush to give warmth to the forehead and neck. With the same brush, I apply the blush to the apples of my cheeks very softly, making sure I under-use the product, not over-use.

Then, I like to focus on my brows by keeping them as natural and minimal as possible using the L’oreal Brow Artist Shaper pencil in the shade dark brunette. (I literally just do one line to maintain the outer edge at the end of my brow!) The biggest trick I use for making my brows appear bigger and more bushy is by taking the brush from my pencil and brushing the hairs in an upwards motion. To set, I use my PIXI brow setting gel in an upwards motion, and my brows don’t need touching again! (I also don’t pluck my brows at all so this is probably why they don’t need too much fussing over)..

Most days, I choose not to wear eyeshadow or falsies unless it’s for a special occasion. So for my eyes on a day-to-day basis, I curl my lashes for 10 seconds, apply one coat of my Clinique mascara, move to the next eye, and then go back and use the Benefit They’re Real! mascara to separate the lashes. These two as a combination product are AMAZING and I find my lashes are super long and heavy but the mascaras together keep them looking plump all day long!

For my highlighter, I go for a natural sheen using the Tanya Burr Champagne Sorbet Illuminator with my B. cosmetics fan brush. I like to apply it to my cheek bones, along the bridge of my nose (applying only ONE stroke), and using a dab on the finger, I like to apply it to my cupids bow and inner corners of the eye. This highlighter is super low key with minimal amounts but is very buildable!

I am usually in one of two moods with lipsticks. I HATE eating and drinking with a bold lip colour because of that awful transfer you get onto just about everything you touch. So I will either opt for my Clinique Cake Pop liquid lipstick or my MAC Faux satin lipstick for minimal days (not forgetting to apply a lip balm morning and night people, if you want luscious lips!) OR I will opt for my gorgeous Mac Ruby Woo lipstick and liner to complete the flawless look!!
